Sarah's tea

How was the tea, Sarah? The Alaskan Barbie doll is still stalking the airwaves and the world wide web and newspapers and all that. And that is of course her aim. So well done to her.

The Tea Party. A gathering of naggers to nag about life but without advancing alternative solutions of any depth and realism. Just airing cheap one-liners for a 23 second hit on the evening news. It’s pretty frightening that US politics has turned into a tea party where the competition to be dumber than your neighbour is in full effect.

Hell yeah, critical debates and conversations and newspaper editorials and blogs about the State of the US Nation and President Obama’s chosen paths are necessary, welcome and even vital. That’s what real democracy is all about.

But don’t take it down to gutter level of dirty populism based on emotional cheap shots. That’s what silly dictators do – be it on the left (like Venezuelan president Chavez) or be it on the right (like Italian stallion Berlusconi).

Republican or democrat or none of both, one thing surely cannot be denied. And that is that Sarah Palin’s intellectual capacity to have the knowledge and the brains to be a leader with serious responsibility for the US and the wider world is non-existent. It’s not about IQ or Masters Degrees or rich kids in rich colleges. It’s about understanding the world you live and work in. Understanding the framework you act in. Have perspective. Have historic background. Try to understand instead of laughing it off with a dumbass one-liner with some lipstick on and a fresh hairdo.

Come on. Dick Cheney’s views of the world are 100 times more liberal and contextual than hers. Has Alaska limited her intellectual growth? Since her rise to become republican vice presidential nominee (or whatever you exactly call that ticket) she has openly shown that she is a... joke. She had no clue why there was a South and a North Korea. She thought Africa was 1 country instead of a continent. She believes that the US first amendment (a pillar of American society) means that politicians can’t be criticised by the media. She thinks that global warming is non-existent. She firmly believes gays and lesbians can be cured (Couple of lashes? Plus disciplined bible lessons? Plus some water-boarding techniques?). Sarah has the in-depth understanding that foreign policy is just an issue to bomb now or bomb a bit later. And she openly says that her future is only decided by God. I would right away wonder if her stupidity is also decided by God? It’s an insult to believers.

And her Bible-fundamentalism and conservative morals clearly didn’t work well at home. Cause the daughter forgot all the guidelines and hit the sack at a pretty young age. And why talk about doing it for America. And never giving up. And going the whole mile. Meanwhile Sarah was elected to be governor of Alaska but quit before the job even started. That’s not nice towards your electorate.

She really sounds like a Reborn-Christian crusader galloping into the plains. Bible in one hand and a gun in the other. What’s the difference between that and the Muslim extremists gathering in religious schools in the mountains of Pakistan to brainwash each other with more hatred for the outside world and plot their next killing spree? What’s the difference? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

It’s racist narrow-minded populism fuelled by religious fundamentalism. She is trying to tap into emotions that are similar to what brought the likes of Hitler or Mussolini or Pinochet or Stalin to power.

Is this the path America wants to go on as we advance in the 21st Century? Or is she just a joker passing buy while sipping tea?

Time will tell. Sometimes voters have indeed the power to decide the future of their country and of the world. Meanwhile, I guess, the (dirty) show must go on.

Human behaviour can be scary.

Throw out. Rick Barton is an amazing guy and musician. The man from Massachusetts was the original guitarist of the by now well established Boston-based, Celtic punkrockers Dropkick Murphys. Before that he hit the punkscene with The Outlets. After lending his talent to the Murphys he started a punkrock-ska band called Everybody Out! And now it seems he started Continental with his son on bass duties. Besides rocking it, Rick is also a music producer. Currently fine tuning the new studio album by his Boston mates Street Dogs. A fine man!

From the outskirts of nowhere

Once again and once again. Conservative, American, would-be politician from the outskirts of nowhere, Sarah Palin has shown her true colours (and stupidity) once again.

It’s all hot air and no truth or honesty. What a looser! Her attack on Obama’s usage of a teleprompter by using her own hand-prompter was a serious joke. A serious expression of her two-facedness. If you can only attack Obama with such rubbish, please take the next Amtrak train back to the snowy plains of Alaska. Put the kettle on, have a cup of coffee and have the guts to look in the (frozen) mirror and admit you are very low scum.

But when people admit something they need to realize and recognize it first and that is way beyond the capacity of the narrow-mindedness of her 1 brain cell. If American politics has fallen so low that she has any support of any importance, then it has become a joke of itself. An irony of what it should and could be. Instead of a beacon of democracy it is a comedy show. A circus of fools.

Human behaviour sometimes gets silly beyond recognition.

And of course everybody can criticize Obama’s politics. That’s the beauty of democracy and free speech. But at least add some content to criticism and analysis instead of just dirt. Compared to the witch from Alaska, Obama this week made a bold move by announcing he will meet the Dalia Lama in the US.

The commie dictators in China will for sure be very upset and issue all kinds of statements on how it is damaging relationships. Maybe they should look up “democracy” onto Google,... but then likely their paranoid spooks have blocked access to those Google results.

Well done for Obama. If you can’t even meet pro-democracy fighters in your own country, then it’s time to close shop. Big difference with South Africa who blocked the Dalai Lama’s visit last year out of fear of Chinese reactions. How 1 old man in orange cloth can upset a nation of millions.

Human behaviour is a labyrinth of fear and misjudgements.

So the almighty Japanese auto industry is in turmoil. As well Toyota as Honda have to recall thousands of cars for some changes. Big blow to their smooth image. And in good old Japanese tradition of honour and respect, I guess we will soon see some CEO’s throwing themselves out of the 45th floor of their headquarters.
You can have all the technology know-how of the world, but human error and human failure will sometime indeed just slip into the machinery.

Anybody out there still thinking about Haiti? The spotlights have moved on to Palin’s hand, Iran’s protests, European currency troubles and the Superbowl.
The sad thing is that the real work starts now. Reconstruction of a new capital city. And rainy season is starting soon which will add to the existing misery. Interesting, but absolutely not surprising, that the avalanche of stars and famous faces have forgotten about the miserable island. The spotlights are gone and thus the same for the red carpet. How caring is directly linked to seconds on a TV screen.
Human behaviour in its crude form.

So how’s Tiger Woods doing in his sex rehab 6-star facility? Any slip ups? Any banned jerk offs? Sad he lives in the USA otherwise he could say it’s all just cultural. That’s the excuse by South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma. Bit of a storm down there as the 67 year old polygamist has fathered his 20th (or is it 21st) child but this time out of wedlock. In fact with the much much younger daughter of a friend. Zuma is currently married with 3 wives. IS divorced once and one of his earlier wives committed suicide. And he is engaged to another lady. But all that, besides running the country of course, doesn’t stop him with fooling around with other girls. Friends of the president better lock their daughters indoors when Zuma passes by for tea.

And all at the same time he preaches the so called ABC philosophy in tackling the vast AIDS crisis in South Africa: abstinence, be faith full and condomize. Maybe he is taking lessons from Sarah Palin. But she better be warned, Zuma is “hot” material.
Human behaviour is sometimes just all about sexual needs.

Meanwhile up north of the African continent lies the devastated, miserable, no-hope sandpit of Somalia. The Islamic insurgents seem to prepare for a massive onslaught on the useless government forces and their protectors – the African Union troops. Hundreds of do-or-die fighters have been infiltrating the capital Mogadishu. The future looks even bloodier in Somalia. No hope.

And across the sea Yemen is in full attack, as expected, against all its internal enemies in the north and south. Wonder how many US military instructors are calling the shots there now.

It’s all war and destruction.

Speaking of... A Russian bloke somewhere in a region called Primorye has laid mines to protect his property from burglars.

Well if alarm systems, razor wire, electric fences don’t do the trick, I guess the guy just wanted to take it to the next level. On top of it all he built the mines himself, not just on the local market.

Human behaviour has its explosive moments.

Throw out. They’re back. After 13 years! Killing Time from Queens, NY has just released its 3rd full length album “Three steps back”. These lads hit the NY underground scene in the 2nd half of the 80s with a milestone demo tape under their previous band name Raw Deal. In 1989 came their debut release “Brightside”, and the name change into Killing Time. It was, and still is, an amazing album. It is still a reference point within the worldwide alternative, punkrock scene. In 1997 came “The method”, but was a shadow of their debut album. Soon after the band called it quits. But 2 years ago the bug bit again and Killing Time started playing gigs again. And then now “Three steps back” is out and rocking hard. The thrilling 80s sound of the NY underground scene is very much at the heart of Killing Time’s return to reality. It’s hard, fast, angry and honest in its simplicity. Not trying to fake some new trends or add some unnatural sounds. This is what Raw Deal and Killing Time represents. As simple as that.
